My bachelor’s thesis at FTN (2024), in power systems: what a microgrid is, what it is made of and how it is controlled, demand-side management and forecasting, and a techno-economic analysis in HOMER Pro: a microgrid for a rural property connected to the distribution network, and the cheapest way to supply it over 25 years.

Where to start
For an overview, look through the 21 defence slides first: they follow chapters 2 to 4. The HOMER Pro analysis is in the thesis alone, in chapter 5, which enters the load, the solar panels, the converter, the battery, the wind turbine and the grid one at a time, then reads the results.

Rad „Koncept mikromreže i tehnike upravljanja mikromrežama“ (76 strana, 7 poglavlja): delovi mikromreže (fotonaponske elektrane, vetrogeneratori, kogeneracija, gorivne ćelije, distribuirana skladišta energije), vrste mikromreža i razlika od virtuelne elektrane, upravljanje mikromrežom (strategije, funkcije, nivoi upravljanja, centralizovano i decentralizovano upravljanje), tehnike upravljanja potrošnjom i prognoze, i u poglavlju 5 analiza u programu HOMER Pro sa analizom osetljivosti na brzinu vetra. Za 25 godina najjeftinije napajanje je 4 kW solarnih panela uz mrežu, a vetrogenerator nije ni u jednom rešenju, ni pri jednoj brzini vetra do 7 m/s.
Thesis. The thesis, The Microgrid Concept and Microgrid Control Techniques (76 pages, 7 chapters): the parts of a microgrid (solar PV plants, wind turbines, cogeneration, fuel cells, distributed storage), kinds of microgrids and how one differs from a virtual power plant, microgrid control (strategies, control functions, the levels of control, centralised and decentralised control), demand-side management techniques and forecasting, and in chapter 5 the HOMER Pro analysis with a sensitivity analysis on wind speed. Over 25 years the cheapest supply it finds is 4 kW of solar panels beside the grid; a wind turbine is in no solution at any wind speed up to 7 m/s.

My father, Prof. Andrija T. Sarić, taught power systems at the Technical Faculty in Čačak and at FTN. His lecture notes cover this course’s material too, explained another way, and they are free like this folder.
