Databases

Baze podataka (E1)

How databases are designed and queried: the ER model, the relational model, translating the one into the other, and SQL.

Kako se baze podataka projektuju i pretražuju: ER model, relacioni model, prevođenje jednog u drugi, i SQL.

Where to start

Set up the exercises’ database first: run tabele.sql, then the other scripts in 02. Every SQL problem in the exercises and practice tests then runs against it, so you can check your answers.

Odakle da počneš

Prvo napravi bazu sa vežbi: pokreni tabele.sql, pa ostale skripte iz 02. Onda svaki SQL zadatak sa vežbi i probnih testova možeš da pokreneš i proveriš.

What’s in the folder

5 parts, under the names they have on Drive.

  1. Lectures (2020–21)

    01 - Predavanja (2020-21)

The lecture slides in six parts, from the basic concepts through the ER and relational models to translating an ER schema into the relational model.

  2. Exercises (2020–21)

    02 - Vežbe (2020-21)

SQL (DDL, DML, queries), the ER model and translating ER into relational. “SQL skripte - baza sa vežbi” holds the database the SQL exercises run on (radnik, projekat, radproj).

  3. Practice tests and midterms

    03 - Probni testovi i kolokvijumi

The 2020 SQL practice tests with their database scripts, the ER and translation practice tests, the theory midterm, and the 2021 SQL practice midterm. “Dodatno” is a practice test from Databases 1 on the Computing and Control programme, good for the theory.

  4. Grading rules

    04 - Pravila ocenjivanja (2020-21).pdf

How the course was passed and scored in 2020–21.

  5. Older materials (2019–20)

    05 - Stari materijali (2019-20)

Older versions of the first four lectures, and the 2019–20 exercises, whose problems differ from the new ones: more practice for SQL and the ER model.

Good to know

  • The SQL scripts were written for Microsoft SQL Server; PostgreSQL or MySQL need small changes, such as the datetime type.
  • The materials are from 2019/20 and 2020/21: the syllabus and the rules may have changed since.
  • Programmes and exam rules change from year to year, so check the current ones with the teacher.
